Not so long ago . . . | Then she said . . .

WTF is happening to my mail???

Sinful
I'm asking here because maybe people on my flist know more about what might be happening than me . . .

All politeness aside, my mother has been a dumbass and got a PO Box because she's having "relationship problems" and "didn't know where we'd be living."  It's a bunch of bull, really, and it was over-the-top absurd for her to do this.  She told me she only had her mail forwarded to the PO Box, but mine hasn't been showing up here either.  And it's not in the PO Box, I checked.  Mom is only getting junk mail in it, too.  Only mail for my recently-moved-back-in stepdad is showing up.

So, not only do I have a few packages with very expensive doll clothing missing, I also have a VERY important package from SCAD missing that I need ASAP.  I haven't tried to do anything about it yet because I thought my mom was looking into it . . . but I seem to be the only truly concerned party.  It's too late to go today, but what should I do?  Are they holding my mail at the post office???

I would -definitely- call your post office. I would also go online and fill out a change of address form with YOUR name on it.

Do you have tracking numbers on any of the packages?

I do have a tracking # on one package, but it's from a UK mailing service that tells me I don't have the right #. The seller for that one isn't too friendly so I figured I should do what I can before getting her involved :/

I'm going to go by the post office in the morning, and you're probably right, change my address. I think I'll change the address to the boyfriend or granny's house though- I shouldn't have been taken along for this ride -_-

Yeah, definitely get to your post office. I was still getting mail a year and a half after divorced for the ex, and then when he died and I mentioned it to the post office, I stopped getting mail for a couple of day altogether.

Having been in a relationship with someone that worked for the post office, I can say, not everyone working there has it all together. And it's possible when your mom did that forwarding of her mail they put a stop all mail to your last name in at your address.

Hope you get your packages, I know that can be extremely frustrating.

Thanks for the advice. I thought of the last name thing, too, but we don't have the same last name, so I can't think of why they'd bunch me with her stuff. It's been about two weeks since I got anything now . . . hopefully they'll be easy to deal with (doubt it).

I don't know how the computer programs work at the post office, it's possible when a person puts in a change of address or that someone is deceased that the computer just says "stop all mail" or they put a note like that on the slot for sorting mail.

Definitely get ahold of those sellers also in case your packages were sent back. And when you go to your post office, ask to speak with the post master.
